Lane Xang Minerals Limited Supports SVK Field Hospital

Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) Sepon recently donated 116,115,000 kip (US$12,000) to Savannakhet Health Division to build a hygiene facility for COVID19. The new facility will ensure adequate hygiene for people undergoing COVID-19 treatment at a field hospital at Savannakhet Health Science College.

“We recognise hygiene as a fundamental measure in preventing COVID-19,” said Mr Saman Aneka, Managing Director, LXML Sepon. “We hope our assistance will offer clean facilities for people being treated for COVID-19. LXML is continuing to cooperate with Savannakhet Province and Vilabouly District in responding to this second wave.”

The handover ceremony took place at Savannakhet Health Division. The donation was received by Dr Sengdao Sidalay, Director of the Savannakhet Health Division, from Ms Ladsany Sisane, LXML Government Relations Superintendent; and was witnessed by the Director of Protocol and Finance at Savannakhet Provincial Office, the Director of Savannakhet Provincial Hospital, and the Director of Savannakhet Health Science College.

Savannakhet field hospital has a capacity of 160 beds. 66 people are currently undergoing COVID-19 treatment, mostly Lao workers returning home. The team at the hospital has treated 99 people since the COVID-19 pandemic hit Laos.

Last month, LXML donated US$100,000 to the Lao Government to support the official response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Laos. Another 60,000,000 kip was provided to Vientiane and Savannakhet rescue teams to support emergency response capacity.

To date, in partnership with the Lao Government, LXML has donated US$350,000 for COVID-19 prevention and response in Lao PDR.

Thanks to the supply of vaccines provided by the Lao Ministry of Health especially, Savannakhet Health Division LXML has vaccinated over 85 per cent of the workforce, – about 3,150 people, in the last two weeks.

LXML is committed to supporting the Lao Government’s efforts in combating COVID-19, and maintaining strict measures to keep employees and communities safe from COVID-19.
