Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 1.5 million ounces of gold doré. In 2021, Sepon produced 5,341 tonnes of copper and 192,988 ounces of gold doré. Sepon projects a production of over 223,000 ounces of gold doré in 2022.
LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with our underground development, along with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.
In support of this growth, we are looking for Senior Resource Geologist to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.
This role reports to the Superintedent – Geological Services; the Senior Resource Geologist will be responsible for providing technical expertise in extending known resources, improving block model reconciliations, and increasing geological and metallurgical understanding of the Sepon mineralisation. As an expatriate your role would encompass the development of a team of Lao National geologists.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assess known ore deposits, identify and prove up extensions to the Sepon Mineral Resource
- Preform monthly reconciliations between resource models and grade control to assess model performance
- Have input into JORC compliant Mineral Resource models and reports
- Coordinate between all relevant departments and contractors to schedule, implement and mointor drilling programs
- Oversee the sampling of resource drilling activities and ensure all samples are assayed in a timely manager
- Ensure all relevant safety and UXO clearance produces are followed durig all activities
- Generate relevant reports to meet the departmental reporting schedule
- Assist with any merger and acqusition studies as required
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or related studies
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar role with a resouce defintion and production geology – preferably in gold
- Previous supervisory experience with drill rigs
- Experience as an expatriate in a developing nation desired
- Compotenent in geological modelling softerware – Vulcan is essential whilst leapfrog is highly desirable as well
- Strong verbal and written English communication
- Able to build strong interdepartmental working relationships to ensure that cross departmental achievements are met
