Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, February 2, 2023 - Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) held the year 2023 annual Community Development Trust Fund meeting and discussed the draft of the year 2024 Strategic Plan. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Valiya Sichanthongthip - Governor of Vilabouly District, co-chaired by Mr. Saman Aneka – Managing Director of LXML, participated by several host departments, senior local and provincial government officials, and senior LXML.

The meeting covered various critical community development projects and cost estimation. The allocated Trust Fund Budget for 2024 is at US$ 750,000 and aims to support the local community host to the Sepon Project to achieve their livelihood improvement, health, and education for the next generations. Furthermore, discussions emphasized the need for strategic partnerships, transparent financial management, and active community participation to ensure the successful implementation of community development initiatives.

Mayor Valiya Sichanthongthip expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude to LXML for their unwavering commitment to the well-being of the host communities and the prosperity of Vilabouly District. He highlighted the positive impact of the Community Trust Fund projects and emphasized the continuous support and cooperation between LXML and the local authorities.

Mr. Saman Aneka delivered his speech on the company's dedication to extending LXML’s growth in the long run along with the sustainable community development for the people of Vilabouly District by highlighting the critical importance of consistent collaboration from the local community’s side. “The company has consistently focused on fostering livelihoods and implementing initiatives that enhance local production and food accessibility, ultimately fostering sustainable development for communities. The company is committed to the development initiatives aligned with the Lao government's socioeconomic development plan which is recognized as contributing to poverty alleviation”. He added.

Several community development projects under the 2023 Trust Fund were accomplished, therefore LXML has handover the Ladsavong Sports stadium cost US$ 85,266, the Vang Theng Kham public park cost US$ 70,459.30, and a rocky weir at Houay Ching Creek able to delivered enough potable water through the pipelines by gravity to Ban Kengkeuk Village at US$ 10,572 made the total cost to the 3 entire projects reached US$ 166,297.

During the event, LXML also supported the release of 24-shelled turtles in the Vang Theng Kham reservoir within the Vilabouly district, as part of its contribution to promoting natural sustainability and biodiversity preservation.

The Community Trust Fund project has provided numerous benefits for the local community residing in the surroundings of the Sepon mine for two decades. The funding has increased from US$96,000 in 2004 and lifted to US$750,000 per year from 2014 onward. With their increased investment and ongoing support for the local community, LXML is set to continue driving long-term, sustainable growth, and prosperity for the people of Vilabouly District and the Lao PDR.
