Superintendent Underground Production/Mining Engineering

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 2 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 65 tonnes of gold. In 2025, Sepon produced 7,000 tonnes of copper and 6.0 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2026 is over 5.7 tonnes of gold and 11,400 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With assets in both gold and copper with a number of feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration activity is underway. The future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for a Superintendent – Underground Mine Planning to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

The Superintendent – Underground Mine Planning reports to the Senior Superintendent – Integrated Mine Planning. . This role will be responsible for overseeing all underground mine engineering duties including budgets, schedules (LOM to weekly plans), stope and development designs, compliance to plans, ventilation, etc. This role is also critical in the development and mentoring of Underground Mine Planning team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to optimize the mine engineering team performance and ensure the achievement of production and cost targets.
• Monitoring progress against plan / budget and reporting significant deviations.
• Overseeing and approving drill and blast plans.
• Monitoring, and simulation of, mine ventilation and dewatering networks.
• Ensuring development and infrastructure designs are practical and cost effective.
• Develop and maintain electronic filing systems (Deswik MDM) for mine planning design and construction.
• Identify and help drive improvements in productivity and cost reduction.
• Developing underground design standards and ensuring compliance.
• Leading and delivering engineering studies to support the LOM in conjunction with internal and external SME’s (subject matter experts).
• Aligning underground mine plans to the integrated mine schedules.
• Work with all necessary stakeholders to ensure plans are communicated
• Mentoring, coaching and training for the teams ongoing development

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience working in underground mining operations.
• A strong technical background in underground mining methods, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Demonstrated experience of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis related to mining operations.
• Strong understanding of geotechnical principles, stope design, and backfill engineering
• Experience with ventilation modelling, survey practices, and underground infrastructure design
• Demonstrated cross-departmental coordination abilities with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
