Superintendent - Metallurgy (Copper)

Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 2 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 65 tonnes of gold. In 2025, Sepon produced 7,000 tonnes of copper and 6.0 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2026 is over 5.7 tonnes of gold and 11,400 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With assets in both gold and copper with a number of feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration activity is underway. The future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for a Superintendent – Metallurgy (Copper) to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

The role of the Superintendent – Metallurgy (Copper) is responsible for driving the technical performance, optimisation and safe operation of the copper processing circuit. This role focuses on improving metallurgical performance, including recovery, grade and throughput, while optimising reagent consumption, maintaining metallurgical accounting accuracy and ensuring effective process control. The successful candidate will lead continuous improvement initiatives, troubleshoot plant performance, and provide technical leadership to support operational excellence and site production targets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the metallurgy team to safely achieve production targets for copper recovery, grade and throughput.
• Monitoring plant performance and work with Operations to identify issues and improve plant performance.
• Prepare and review daily, weekly and monthly metallurgical reports, including production performance, process trends and technical recommendations to improve production results.
• Maintain metallurgical accounting, mass balance, sampling and QA/QC standards to ensure reliable production data.
• Review reagent consumption and identify opportunities to improve recovery while reducing operating costs.
• Work closely with Mining, Maintenance, Geology, Laboratory and Projects to support plant performance and technical improvements.
• Train and develop the metallurgy team, and build a strong safety and continuous improvement culture.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and improvement projects as required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• At least 10 years' experience in mineral processing, with a minimum of 5 years in a technical leadership or supervisory role.
• Strong technical knowledge of copper processing operations, including milling, acid leaching, CCD thickening, SX/EW and related plant processes.
• Solid understanding of metallurgical accounting, mass balance, sampling systems and QA/QC practices.
• Experience in plant optimisation, process troubleshooting and continuous improvement within an operating processing plant.
• Familiar with DCS/PLC process control systems and the use of plant data to support operational decisions.
• Experience managing reagent performance and working with suppliers to improve plant efficiency and reduce operating costs.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a production environment.
• Good written and spoken English. Lao language skills will be an advantage.
