Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations in 2003, Sepon has produced over one million tonnes of copper cathode and over 1.2 million ounces of gold doré. In 2019, LXML produced over 72,000 tonnes of copper.
LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the re-commencement of gold production at Sepon in 2020, and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merging and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.
To support our operation, we are seeking a qualified candidate in the position of Senior Superintendent Maintenance, this role is cruicial to the overall success of the Fixed Plant Maintenance department. This role supports the operations by driving operational excellence to achieve budgeted availabilities, performance and cost saving iniatives through the execution of the maintenance works undertaken by trades teams. The role oversees all trades teams within the Fixed Plant Maintenance department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Execute planned maintenance activities to defined quality standards (procedures, standards, specifications)
- Respond to unplanned maintenance activities and develop strategies to reduce re-occurrence of
- Develop the skills and competencies of the work team to match critical equipment requirements
- Continuous optimisation of planned tasks to reduce downtime through review on standard job tasks
- Manage costs within budget and identifying methods of cost optimization
- Develop and deploy health, safety and environment improvement plans through observation work and collaboration with direct line reports
- Work closely with Process Operations to understand priorities and to adapt plans accordingly
- Provide daily, monthly and quarterly reporting for the senior leadership team
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 15 years maintenance experience in fixed plant operations
- Bachelors Degree in Electrical / Mechanical (preferred). Technical trade qualifications (minimum)
- Experience in fixed plant maintenance inclusive of critical plant such as Autoclaves, Oxygen Plants, Grinding Mills etc
- Demonstrated experience in leading multi skilled work teams whilst develop developing the skills and competencies of people in developing countries for capacity building
- Asset management principles (inclusive of shutdown management, cost management, defect elimination)
- Awareness of condition monitoring techniques (inclusive of oil condition, thermography, vibration analysis, thickness testing, ultrasonic testing)
- Has proficiency in the use of CMMS Systems (e.g. Pronto), MS Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint)
- Has strong customer focus and teamwork skills to listen, interact, influence and delegate
- Has strong public speaking and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely in English
This expatriate assignment is residentially based in the Lao capital city of Vientiane on a 5/2 4/3 roster to site. Alternatively, a longer FIFO roster from your home country can be agreed for the right candidate.
