In support of this growth, we are looking for Technical Advisor - Safety to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

The role of Technical Advisor – Safety reports to the Manager – Safety, Health & Environment. The Technical Advisor – Safety provides high level technical expertise, capability building and strategic support to LXMLs Health and Safety function. The role focuses on improving national health and safety staff capabilities.  By strengthening safety systems, critical risk and process safety management and incident investigations.

 Key responsibilities include:

• Provide technical input into the development and maintenance of LXMLs health and safety management systems.
• Assist development, updating, communication and document control of safety related policies, management plans, procedures and work instructions.
• Support and provide technical guidance on the implementation of the Fatal Risk Standard, LXML Life Saving Rules, Risk Management Procedure and Change Management Procedure.
• Provide governance oversight and technical input into critical risk analysis, monitoring and implementation of critical controls, critical control verification activities.
• Develop strategies and support deployment of critical risk management to LXMLs contract partners. 
• Strengthen and provide technical support to process safety management across LXMLs operations.
• Lead or support investigations for significant, high potential incidents. 
• Build on-site capacity in non-significant and significant (ICAM) investigations.
• Develop and improve LXMLs investigation and learning from events processes and supporting materials.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• Relevant qualification/training in Safety, Risk Management or Engineering required.
• At least 7 years of experience at a senior level Safety role in mining
• Previous expatriate experience highly desirable
• Knowledge of safety management systems and incident investigation methods.
• Understanding of contemporary critical risk management, process safety and change management practices.
• Demonstrated knowledge of open pit and underground mining, and mineral processing operations, risks and controls.
