Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. In 2023, our planned production forecast is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

An exciting opportunity has become available for a dynamic and motivated Supply and Contracts Manager to be involved in an already highly successful Copper operation as it transitions to a future Gold operation over the next two years. 

Reporting directly to the Vice General Manager, the Supply and Contracts Manager has overall management responsibilities for Materials Management (Inventory and Warehousing); Contracts (Services and Goods Sourcing, Contracts and Contractor Management); Logistics and Purchasing activities which are to be managed in accordance with defined company policies, procedures and standards.  The role is to manage the Supply and Contracts function at LXML Sepon in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while maximising cost efficiencies and ensuring compliance with site and corporate objectives and directions.

Other key responsibilities will include:

• Providing leadership in developing and executing strategy across all inbound and outbound logistics.
• Identifying synergies and opportunities to drive sustained improvements across an evolving network.
• Managing, planning and tracking of procurement activities, cost budgets and savings forecasts.
• Engaging and continuously working with suppliers to maximize the effectiveness of LXML inventory investments and/or delivery expectations.
• Reviewing supplier agreements to ensure knowledge of any opportunities which may exist with particular suppliers.
• Demonstrating total transparency and ethical business practices in all activities
• Developing and implementing contractor management procedures for Sepon, ensuring contractors are compliant with site safety standards, and conducting regular auditing of contractors against defined KPI’s.
• Coaching customer departments and Contract Partners on Contractor Management
• Promoting a continuous improvement culture within Supply and Contracts and advise of any opportunities identified.
• Acting in a responsible, courteous manner and exhibiting the appropriate levels of cultural sensitivity during all interactions with colleagues, local communities, visitors and Government Officials.

Selection Criteria:

• Professionally qualified with a minimum of 10 to 15 years’ experience in Supply and/or Contract Management roles
• Membership of a Supply Chain and Logistics Association is desirable
• A demonstrated track record of developing strong and effective relationship with key stakeholders.
• Ability to mentor and develop a diverse team with the broad skills, flexibility and capacity.
• A personal commitment to safety through visible leadership, and in your own behaviours and interactions.
• Experiences in mining or similar industries in South-East Asia region and/or China is preferable.
• Must be fluent in English, both verbal and written
• Fluency in Mandarin is also desirable

This is a fixed term position based in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, offering an attractive 5 days on/2 days off; 4 days on/3 days off FIFO roster to Sepon Mine.  A FIFO roster from point of hire may also be considered for the right candidate. The onsite camp facilities at Sepon include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, and a fully equipped medical centre.
