Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business. In 2024, our planned production is 6,200 kg of Gold and 5,305 tonnes of Copper.

To support our underground operations, we are seeking a qualified candidate in the position of Superintendent – Underground Mine Engineering. This role is crucial to the overall development and production success of the underground operations.

The Superintendent – Underground Mine Engineering will report to the Senior Superintendent – Integrated Mine Planning. This role will be responsible for overseeing all underground mine engineering duties including budgets, schedules (LOM to weekly plans), stope and development designs, compliance to plans, ventilation, etc.

Other key responsibilities will include:

• Monitoring progress against plan / budget and reporting significant deviations.
• Examining mining methods and equipment to improve performance.
• Overseeing and approving drill and blast plans.
• Monitoring, and simulation of, mine ventilation and dewatering networks.
• Ensuring development and infrastructure designs are practical and cost effective.
• Develop and maintain electronic and other filing systems for mine planning design and construction.
• Identify and help drive improvements in productivity and cost reduction.
• Developing underground design standards and ensuring compliance.
• Leading and developing the underground mine engineering team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to optimize their performance and ensure the achievement of production and cost targets.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience working in underground mining operations.
• A strong technical background in underground mining methods, equipment, and safety protocols.
• In-depth knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis related to mining operations.
• Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to communicate with and motivate a diverse workforce.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Adaptability in diverse and multicultural environments.

This is a fixed term position based in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, offering an attractive 5 days on/2 days off; 4 days on/3 days off FIFO roster to Sepon Mine.  A FIFO roster from point of hire may also be considered for the right candidate. The onsite camp facilities at Sepon include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, and a fully equipped medical centre.
