Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business. In 2024, our planned production is 6,200 kg of gold and 5,305 tonnes of copper.

In support of this growth, we are looking for a Superintendent – Production Geology to join our team to deliver on our growth plans and be a part of this exciting future.

This role reports to the Manager – Mine Technical Services; this role is responsible for the efficient management of grade control geology (both open pit and underground) by providing technical expertise and guidance to the department. This role will be integral to maximising ore recovery whilst minimising dilution.  A focus on team training and upskilling will be important for the development of the employees. 

Key responsibilities include:

• Update grade control models and produce dig block designs and associated documentation using Vulcan and Leapfrog software
• Optimising blend grades and metallurgical properties of stockpiles as they are processed to ensure maximum gold production.
• Ensuring geological information is gathered and utilised to maximum benefit.
• Ensure GC drilling is conducted safely, in a timely manner and as cost efficiently as possible.
• Assist with the creation and appropriate execution of short-term mining plans.
• Supervision of ore mark outs and ore extraction to minimise dilution and maximise recovery.
• Assess and address training requirements of the team
• Ensure cross-departmental communication is kept open and assist the business to follow corporate direction
• Compilation of weekly, monthly, and annual reports.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

• At least 7 years’ experience in varied production environments covering open pit and underground
• Possess a high level of computer skills, must be highly proficient in Vulcan.
• Leapfrog Edge proficiency will be highly regarded.
• Experience in a supervisory capacity
• Experience in base metals and gold preferable
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Good geostatistical knowledge including grade estimation methodologies
• Previous experience as an expatriate would be desirable
