Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Reporting to the Superintendent – GIS & Database, the Specialist – GIS & Database supervises and coordinates the activities of GIS team with a particular focus on technical excellence. The incumbent will have to facilitate and provide training and guidance to junior geologists, geologists and senior geologists relevant to GIS skills development.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Manage GIS System, create, update, and maintain maps.
• Collect and analyze spatial data, produce reports and maps for various departments.
• Perform GIS calculations and analyses (buffer, overlay, network analysis, etc.).
• Database design and administration, develop database schemas, manage data import/export processes.
• Enhance security measures and perform regular backups.
• Create SQL queries to extract and manage data, integrate spatial data with other datasets.
• Develop web maps or GIS applications, troubleshoot GIS and database software issues.
• Manage servers and geodatabases (PostGIS, ArcGIS Server).
• Prepare high quality maps and sections, summary reports, monthly and other exploration reports and presentations as needed.
• Review and improve the QAQC protocols for various exploration sampling programs.
• Train staff on how to use GIS tools and applications.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geology or related fields.
• Minimum 2 years in open-cut and/or underground mining operations.
• Proficiency in geological software packages, including Vulcan, Leapfrog, Ore Pro3D program.
• Proficiency in database software and tools, such as GeoBank SQL, or Microsoft Access.
• Good English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Valid Class B driver’s license with a clean, proven driving record.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
