Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Opera-tion, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the busi-ness. In 2025, our planned production is 5,703 kg of Gold and 10,010 tonnes of copper.

Reporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical Hydrogeology & Tailings, the Senior Underground Geotechnical Engineer  the  is responsible for all Geotechnical aspects of the underground mining operations to ensure a safe working environment and to adhere to LXML’s sustainability and safety standards. The role will provide technical expertise in the design, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation of geotechnical engineering systems.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing and implementing the company's Ground Control Management Plan, ensuring its adherence by mine operations
• Oversee all Geotechnical aspects of underground mining operations, including ground control planning, stability analysis, support design and monitoring
• Conducting rock mass analysis, define geotechnical properties, and make geotechnical recommendations
• Analysing and interpreting geotechnical monitoring data to inform engineering decisions
• Technical review of all Stope Notes and Mining Instructions completed by the Geotechnical and Hydrogeology Sections
• Implementing ground support design standards for mine development and rehabilitation.
• Ensuring ground control audits and quality assurance programs are carried out regularly and documented
• Provide technical training to Geotechnical Engineers in all geotechnical aspects relating to underground (Stope Stability, Dilution Assessments, Support Design and Backfill etc.) and management of the technical development plan for all Geotechnical Engineers
• Working with mine operations, planning, and other stakeholders to optimize mining methods and minimize risks
• Development and management of all undergrounds Trigger Action Response Plans (TARPS)
• Annual budget preparation and monthly cost reviews

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering or a closely related discipline such as Civil Engineering, Geology, or Mining Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering within an underground mining environment, specifically with open stoping and backfill systems, including at least 3–5 years in a senior-level geotechnical engineering role.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng certification is considered an asset.
• Advanced proficiency in Rocscience software tools (including RS2, RS3, RSData, UnWedge, Dips, and RocTunnel), with the ability to mentor and train junior staff.
• Skilled in collecting Rock Mass Classification data through underground mapping and core logging.
• Experienced in developing Rock Mass Models, Structural Models, and Domain Models.
• Proficient in CAD software such as Deswik or Vulcan.
• Competent in using Leapfrog for updating rock mass models.
• Strong expertise in underground support and pillar design.

This is a fixed term position based in Laos PDR on a FIFO roster back to your point of hire. The onsite camp facilities at Sepon include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, and a fully equipped medical centre.
