Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. In 2023, our planned production forecast is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.
LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020, a number of feasibility studies in progress, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.
In support of this growth, we are looking for Senior Technical Advisor – Human Resources to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.
Reporting directly to Senior Superintendent – Human Resources, the Senior Technical Advisor - Human Resources will provide technical support and guidance in all aspects of human resources. This includes recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, training and development.
Key responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and implementing HR strategies and policies that align with LXML goals and targets whilst ensuring compliance with Lao Labour Laws, LXML work standards and procedures.
- Assist in developing and implementing national employee training and development programs to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Provide support in managing compensation and benefits programs such as salary structures, incentives, retention bonuses, etc. that attracts and retains employees.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and technical support to HR team members to provide high-quality professional services.
- Provide timely guidance and support to managers and employees for HR-related issues.
- Involvement in the management of HR budgets and people cost planning.
Qualification, skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years’ experience in HR management in mining or a similar industry.
- Strong knowledge in HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good coaching and mentoring skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Fluency in English, both oral and written.
- Fluency in Mandarin is also desirable.
This is a fixed term position based in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, offering an attractive 5 days on/2 days off; 4 days on/3 days off FIFO roster to Sepon Mine. A FIFO roster from point of hire may also be considered for the right candidate. The onsite camp facilities at Sepon include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, and a fully equipped medical centre.
