Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. In 2023, our planned production forecast is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

To support our operation, we are seeking a qualified candidate in the position of Senior Superintedent – Underground Mining Production. This role is crucial to the overall development and production success of the underground operations.

The Senior Superintendent – Underground Mining Production will report to the Manager – Mining Operations. This role will be responsible for all underground operations. Specifically, the incumbent will take full responsibility for the safe and efficient production of the underground mine while establishing and complying with all safety and quality standards. The role will ensure that underground production meets targets, minimizes ore dilution, and ensures that operating costs and capital costs are within budgets and consistent with LXML standards, procedures, and relevant legislation.

Other key responsibilities will include:

• Driving improvements in productivity and cost reduction.
• Developing underground safety standards and ensuring safety compliance.
• Identifying and implementing operational and workplace improvements through the development of relevant policies and systems to achieve statutory compliance, safety, and production targets.
• Overseeing mine production schedules, budgets, and cost control measures to achieve operational targets.
• Leading and developing the underground mining team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to optimize their performance and ensure the achievement of production and cost targets.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering, civil engineering, or a relevant field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience working in underground mining operations in a management role.
• A strong technical background in underground mining methods, equipment, and safety protocols.
• Ability to drive improvements through a structured approach and the adoption of fit-for-purpose underground technologies and systems.
• In-depth knowledge of budgeting, cost control, and financial analysis related to mining operations.
• Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to communicate with and motivate a diverse workforce.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Adaptability in diverse and multicultural environments.

This is a fixed term position based in Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, offering an attractive 5 days on/2 days off; 4 days on/3 days off FIFO roster to Sepon Mine.  A FIFO roster from point of hire may also be considered for the right candidate. The onsite camp facilities at Sepon include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, and a fully equipped medical centre.
