Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2023 is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Officer - Procurement to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

Reporting to procurement supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible for all assigned sourcing, goods contracts and all allocated purchasing and related sourcing and contracting activities, which are to be managed in accordance with defined company policies, procedures and standards. The role includes, but is not necessarily limited, preparing, issuing, managing purchase orders and expediting the purchase orders to meet the business requirement.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Act in a responsible, courteous manner with the appropriate levels of cultural sensitivity during all interactions with colleagues, suppliers and contractors.
• Support Procurement Supervisor as required.
• Lead development and execution of sourcing strategies, which align with business and stakeholder requirements.
• Develop and lead cross-functional teams in purchasing strategy development, sourcing and negotiations.
• Undertake due diligence in mitigating all external supply risk from supplier selections.
• Identification and confirmation of the required level of expediting and logistics coordination depending on the nature of purchases.
• Deliver robust cost management and minimize business risk.
• Maintain relationships with site and internal groups and co-ordinate activities in a controlled manner.
• Provide gatekeeper function for key purchasing strategies and activities.
• Identify and escalate purchasing related problems.
• Routinely communicate openly and with integrity with key business & external stakeholders.
• Identify, recommend and implement efficiency and cost improvement opportunities.
• Identify and deliver values through pro-actively establishing processes that correct non-compliance.
• Demonstrate total transparency and ethical business practices in all activities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

 Degree in a commercial/engineering related discipline.

• Basic understanding on ERP for sourcing (SAP, PRONTO, etc).
• Well-developed scheduling and planning skills, deadline focussed.
• Uncompromising on Ethical, Safety and Environment standards being met.
• Good understanding of basic supply contracts and related principles.
• Microsoft suite of tools (Word, Excel, etc).
• An effective communicator with peers – written and verbal.
• English is mandatory. Chinese will be an advantage.
• At least 3 years in Procurement.
• 2+ years within the resource industry, preferably Lao Nation.
