Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2023 is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Engineer – Mining Continuous Improvement (Underground) to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

 

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure progress measurements in support of mine operations.
  • Conduct a detailed analysis of costs and production metrics, offering insights to enhance operational performance.
  • Utilize KPI tracking and trend monitoring to ensure visibility of performance, identifying pivotal areas for cost and production optimization.
  • Analyse and interpret information about mine operations, emphasizing availability, productivity, cost management, and continuous improvement.
  • Produce mine production statistics at specified intervals, evaluate emerging trends, and suggest corrective actions.
  • Foster collaboration between open pit and underground operations, sharing best practices and benchmarks.
  • Merge cost analysis with operational performance insights to deliver comprehensive reports.
  • Deploy precise measurement tools aligned with continuous improvement tracking.
  • Promote continuous improvement, encouraging fresh, beneficial ideas for the business.
  • Prioritize and oversee improvement projects in conjunction with the Mine Operations Centre and relevant stakeholders.
  • Formulate AFEs in anticipation of department capital expenditures.
  • Maintain open communication with crew, supervisors, and other key personnel, delivering feedback that's both positive and constructive.
  • Collaborate with operational and support teams to unearth more improvement opportunities.
  • Address other responsibilities as they arise.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

  • Master’s degree in business, Economics or Engineering (desirable).
  • A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Business or equivalent.
  • Formal training in Lean Six Sigma (highly desirable).
  • Valid driver license required (Class B).
  • High level of computer literacy, English, and self-motivation and passion for Technology.
  • Capable of working without direct supervision.
  • Proactive and self-starter.
  • Take-charge attitude.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
  • Ability to engage/communicate with teams and provide positive and constructive feedback based on performance.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Mining and 2 years’ experience in Continuous Improvement.
  • Prior supervisory experience (desirable).
