Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2023 is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Engineer – Mine Production (Underground) to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Design practical mine infrastructure, including essential developments that support exploration of mining blocks throughout the Life of Mine (LOM) period.
• Create and continuously update rolling production schedules to ensure timely operations.
• Develop comprehensive drill and blast designs, ensuring they align with scheduled targets.
• Analyse, review, and optimize ventilation systems to maintain safe and efficient mine operations.
• Engage proactively with the shift Supervisor, crew, and technical staff, ensuring clear communication on plans and addressing any arising issues.
• Assess the implications of various mining methods on the economic viability of mining blocks and recommend necessary modifications.
• Adhere strictly to all regular reporting schedules, ensuring timely and accurate updates.
• Collaborate closely with both operational and technical teams, ensuring full compliance with short and medium-term plans, and ensuring operations meet budgeted mining physicals.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience 

• Master’s degree in engineering (desirable).
• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
• Formal training in Lean Six Sigma (highly desirable).
• Valid driver license required (Class B).
• Advanced software skills.
• High level of English and self-motivation and passion for Excellence.
• Capable of working without direct supervision.
• Proactive and self-starter.
• Take-charge attitude.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to effectively prioritise tasks.
• Ability to engage/communicate with teams and provide positive and constructive feedback based on performance.
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in underground mining and 2 years’ experience in a similar position.
• Prior supervisory experience (desirable).
