Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2023 is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the transition from a copper-focused operation to a gold-focused operation completed in 2020 and with a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for a Lao national Electrical Engineer to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

Reporting to Engineering Superintendent, the Electrical Engineer will support the operations in enabling fixed plant equipment to perform at budgeted availabilities, performance and costs through the delivery of electrical engineering support across site.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Maintenance of plant control systems (PLC and SCADA)
• Electrical, instrumentation, control system engineering input into plant modifications and capital projects.
• Site drawing management.
• Management of Change management.
• Technical support for best practice maintenance on Critical Equipment, troubleshooting abnormal equipment conditions and failures.
• Repair specifications and procedures for motors, transformers, switchgear, etc.
• Load studies and integrity assessments of critical electrical equipment.
• Statutory management of electrical equipment.
• Electrical, instrumentation, and control improvement works.
• Information technology and equipment condition support.
• Incident investigations related to technical and safety related matters.

 Qualifications, Skills and Experience

•  Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation and Control.
• 5 years maintenance experience in fixed plant process operations and/or similar heavy industry
• Demonstrated proficiency in control systems (ideally Rockwell, Omron or Siemens) and process control within heavy industry.
• Demonstrated experience in fixed plant maintenance inclusive of critical plant such as HV electrical equipment such as transformers, motors, variable speed drives, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Demonstrated experience in developing integrity assessment and repair specifications and procedures for rebuild components such as motors, transformers, switchgear, etc.
• Demonstrated experience in applying electrical engineering theory into practice.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely through written and oral forms.
• Has proficiency in the use of CMMS Systems (e.g., Pronto) MS Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) and engineering drawing software (ideally AutoCAD or Microsoft Visio).
