Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. In 2023, our planned production forecast is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth.  With the re-commencement of gold production at Sepon in 2020, and a number of other feasibility studies, a ramp up in exploration and merging and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

To support our operation, we are seeking a qualified candidate in the position of Coordinator – Underground Electrical Maintenance.

Reporting directly to the Superintendent – Underground Maintenance, this role will be responsible for all underground electrical system installations, removals and maintenance that is required to safely and efficiently support the underground operations. Working closely with the, underground operations, site electrical engineering, and mobile maintenance planning departments, the underground electrical coordinator is responsible for ensuring all underground electrical works are carried out to the highest standards, that meet or exceed all statutory requirements while supporting the underground operation to ensure development and production targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities include: 

• Mid and long-term planning, direction, development and continuous improvement of all underground electrical installation and maintenance activities.
• Providing support and guidance for staff within the underground maintenance department.
• Establishing the department’s electrical plans and KPI's.
• Participating within the mobile maintenance leadership team.
• Develop, update, and maintain underground reticulation circuits and diagrams.
• Provision of safe and efficient equipment maintenance management and repair for all underground electrical equipment.
• Safely achieve budgeted equipment availability targets and ensure electrical works support the operation to achieve development and production targets.

Qualifications, skills and experience: 

• Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Trades Qualification or equivalent (University engineering qualification preferable)
• Excellent understanding of all aspects of underground mining electrical systems and underground mining operations
• A sound knowledge of E&I / maintenance systems, reliability, financial accounting systems and control measures
• Conversant with occupational health and safety systems
• Minimum 10 years’ experience in underground mining or similar industry
• Minimum 5 years in senior supervisory position

This is a fixed term position based in Vilabouly district, Savannakhet province, Laos, offering an attractive 28 days on/14 days off with a FIFO roster from point of hire. The onsite camp facilities at Sepon include fully serviced air-conditioned rooms, dining halls, convenience store, gym and sporting facilities, and a fully equipped medical centre.
