Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. Since operations commenced in 2003, LXML Sepon has produced over 1.1 million tonnes of copper cathode and over 53 tonnes of gold. In 2022, Sepon produced 6,600 tonnes of copper and 6.7 tonnes of gold. Planned production for 2023 is over 6 tonnes of gold and 7,000 tonnes of copper.

LXML is now positioning itself for future growth. With the underground production commenced along with a ramp up in exploration and with merger and acquisition activity underway, the future for LXML and the Sepon operation is unlimited in potential and opportunity.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Contract Specialist to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

This role reports into the superintendent – Contracts and is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers and vendors on behalf of the organization. They ensure that the organization obtains the best value for money and quality of goods and services, while complying with relevant laws, regulations and internal LXML guidelines.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Researching and identifying potential suppliers that meet the organization’s needs and specifications
• Preparing and issuing requests for proposals, quotations, bids, or tenders.
• Evaluating and comparing offers from different suppliers based on various criteria such as price, quality, delivery time, service, warranty, etc.
• Negotiating contract terms and conditions with selected suppliers, including payment terms, delivery schedule, performance standards, penalties, etc.
• Reviewing and approving contracts and purchase orders before execution.
• Monitoring and managing the performance of suppliers and contractors, ensuring that they meet their contractual obligations and deliver the expected results.
• Resolving any issues or disputes that may arise during the contract lifecycle, such as delays, defects, and non-compliance
• Maintaining and updating records of contracts, purchases, invoices, payments, etc.
• Developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with organizational goals and legal requirements.
• Conducting market research and analysis to identify new opportunities for cost savings, quality improvement, innovation

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

•  Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
• Previous experience in legal contracts is necessary.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in contract management or a related field.
• Knowledge of procurement methods, principles, practices, and regulations.
• Ability to negotiate effectively and persuasively with suppliers and stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with high attention to detail
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software applications related to procurement and contract management.
• Certification from a recognized supply or contacts management association or board would be highly desirable.
