Chifeng Gold’s Lane Xang Minerals Limited Company (LXML) operates the Sepon Gold and Copper Operation, located in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, Lao PDR. We are committed to the development of Laos through our production of cooper and gold, whilst striving for business excellence throughout the business. In 2024, our planned production is 6,200 kg of Gold and 5,305 tonnes of Copper.

In support of this growth, we are looking for Advisor – Legal & Tax to join our team to deliver on our growth plans, and be a part of this exciting future.

Reporting to the Senior Superintendent – Corporate Affairs and Government Relations, this role will be providing comprehensive legal and tax advisory services to ensure compliance with company policies and Lao government regulations. This role involves handling board resolutions, due diligence, legal documents, and offering tax advice to support the company’s operations.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Assist and manage preparing and handling company board resolutions and documents.
• Conduct due diligence on legal documents to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Provide expert advice on tax matters, including planning, and strategies, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.
• Manage all legal matters related to tax law and regulations, ensuring compliance with both company policies and Lao government laws.  
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents to protect the company’s interests.
• Develop and implement policies and procedures to mitigate legal risks.
• Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of issues including corporate law, contract law, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
• Collaborate with the contract department team in document registration or court registration.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings and liaise with external legal counsel as necessary.
• Provide training and guidance to employees on legal and tax matters.
• Conduct legal research and stay updated on relevant legal and tax regulations and best practices to provide informed advice.
• Provide translation of the relevant notification letters from government agencies, tax laws, and regulations into Lao-English and English-Lao; being able to translate in Chinese is preferred.

 Qualifications Experience, and Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in law, Taxation, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage)
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in legal and tax advisory roles, preferably in the mining or resource sector
• Must be proficient in English and be able to communicate in Chinese is preferred
• Professional certification in tax or legal advisory is preferred
• Valid legal practice license in Laos
• Additional qualifications in the mining industry, finance, and asset or related fields are preferred
• Experience in handling complex legal and tax issues, board resolutions, and legal compliance
