Chifeng Lane Xang Minerals Limited (LXML) Sepon has received an ASEAN Business Award for ‘Combating COVID-19.’  The award announcement was made on 18 November 2020 during a ceremony at the ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) 2020 in Hanoi, Vietnam

The award acknowledges outstanding businesses in the region supporting COVID-19 prevention. LXML was shortlisted from hundreds of businesses and entrepreneurs in the region.

This prestigious award is the result of the commitment and exceptional hard work of the Lao Government and LXML employees in containing COVID-19 and preventing spread of the virus” said Paul Harris, LXML General Manager. “At LXML we treated the pandemic like a crisis before it actually became one. Through proactive and early implementation of preventive controls and measures, we were able to keep over 3,500 employees and 40,000 community members safe and free of COVID-19. We must continue to remain vigilant until the pandemic is over.”

LXML introduced robust initiatives in January, well before COVID-19 reached Lao PDR.  These included procedural controls, communication and awareness, physical barriers, and a focus on cultural and behavioural changes to align with the constantly shifting ‘new normal.’ As a result of these efforts and initiatives, LXML was privileged to be one of only five companies in Lao PDR permitted to continue operations during the national lockdown. In partnership with the Lao Government, LXML provided support amounting to US$170,000 for COVID-19 prevention.

 LXML remains committed to supporting the Government’s effort in combating COVID-19, and in keeping employees and community safe from COVID-19
